Consumers Council of Canada President Don Mercer has written the Hon. Bill Morneau, Minister of Finance Canada, to make him aware of Council views related to reform of the Canadian Payments Act, contained in the Council’s report: Updating the Canadian Payments Act – A Consumer Perspective Spotlight.
Mercer currently serves as one of two consumer representatives on the Stakeholder Advisory Council of Payments Canada.
Updating the Canadian Payments Act – A Consumer Perspective Spotlight touches on competition in the payments system, hinderances to consumer representation in this regulated sector, and certain terms of reference of the Payments Canada’s stakeholder advisory council.
