The Consumers Council of Canada wishes to extend special congratulations to Chris Ballard, until recently a member of the board of directors of the Council, for his election as MPP, Newmarket-Aurora, and his subsequent appointment as Parliamentary Assistant to the Ontario Minister of Government and Consumer Services.
Chris was the first executive director of the Council at its founding in 1994. Upon winning the nomination of the Ontario Liberal Party to run in the recent election, Chris resigned his membership on the board of the non-partisan Council.
“Chris has as much experience as anyone in Canada with the challenges faced by groups that seek to represent consumers in realizing their rights and exercising their responsibilities in the marketplace,” said Council President Aubrey LeBlanc. “Chris is practical, empathetic and concerned in his approach to consumer protection.”
